Water Sports in vermont
Whether you’re into canoeing, kayaking, fishing, sailing, tubing, swimming, sailboarding, or scuba diving, you will find the right venue on one of Vermont’s waterways.
When people think of Vermont, they may think about small, historic villages with white clapboard buildings surrounded by scenic rural landscape. But make no mistake, you’ll also find plenty of water in Vermont. Vermont is home to Lake Champlain, the sixth largest freshwater body in the United States. One of Vermont’s U.S. Senators once even tried to have it declared the sixth Great Lake. He wasn’t successful, but the effort focused a lot of attention on Lake Champlain and made people take a second look at Vermont and all that it had to offer for water sports.
Lake Champlain is Vermont’s largest body of water. It covers 435 square miles and is just over 120 miles long, making up a major portion of Vermont’s western border with New York. In total, Vermont has more than 800 lakes and ponds, 284 of which are larger than 20 acres. Vermont is also home to over 7,000 miles of rivers and streams.
Chart your course for a leisurely paddle across one of our small ponds or set sail across one of our larger lakes. Cast out your line in search of more than 20 different species of game fish. Explore Vermont’s history as you dive among shipwrecks from its nautical past. Or you may simply want to spend a quiet summer day splashing around near the beach with your kids and acting like one yourself.
Whatever your aquatic passion, there is just the right body of water waiting for you here in Vermont.
Golf in vermont
Designed by the likes of Jack Nicklaus and Robert Trent Jones, with fairway layouts that range from lakeside and mountain locations to sweeping valley vistas, Vermont's courses offer some of the finest settings and most exhilarating challenges in the country.
In terms of scenery, the courses at Stowe and Mt. Snow, the Crown Point Country Club in Weathersfield, the Mt. Anthony course in Benn-ington, Tater Hill near Londonderry, or the Alburg Country Club in the Lake Champlain Islands top the list.
If you're looking for challenge, Mt. Snow and Haystack, Stratton's 27-hole course and the new Green Mountain National Course in Sherburne, St. Johnsbury's incredible back nine, and Sugarbush's tough hills will test and sharpen any game. On the flip side, we've got over two dozen lovely nine-hole courses where you can golf at a leisurely pace, honing your game on gentle, forgiving fairways.
In addition, our golf courses are accessible for tee times and inexpensive by down country standards. Greens and fairways are lush and well-manicured, thanks to Vermont's temperate summer climate and top quality groundskeeping.
And, if you'd like to work on your game, our acclaimed golf schools can help straighten your swing and polish your putting, using the newest instruction techniques and equipment.
Of course, the best part of golfing in Vermont is that after a round, you're surrounded by all the other things there are to do in Vermont. From exceptional dining to tennis, biking and swimming, taking in a concert or play, grabbing up flea market bargains and farmer's market produce, Vermont suits golfers - and their non-golfing families - to a tee.

Condos versus Hotels
Would you rather stay in a confined hotel room with no kitchen facilities or extras when you can get so much more for your money and stay in a spacious 1 or 2 bedroom resort condo with suite-style amenities and a partial or full kitchen?
A partial or full kitchen allows you to stay in for some meals when it is not convenient for you to go out. Breakfast is a perfect example. In a hotel your only option is room service at exorbitant prices. With a spacious resort condo you can have breakfast in bed every day.
