Austria
Austria is a landlocked country of roughly 8.3 million people in Central Europe. It borders Germany and the Czech Republic to the north, Slovakia and Hungary to the east, Slovenia and Italy to the south, and Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the west. The territory of Austria covers 83,872 square kilometres (32,383 sq mi), and has a temperate and alpine climate. Austria's terrain is highly mountainous due to the presence of the Alps. Just one-third of Austria is located below 500 metres (1,640 ft) above sea level, and Austria's highest point is at an elevation of 3,797 metres (12,457 ft) above sea level. The majority of the population speaks German, which is also the country's official language. Other local official languages are Croatian, Hungarian and Slovene. The origins of the country of Austria date back to the time of the Roman Empire when a Celtic kingdom was conquered by the Romans in about 15 BC, and later became Noricum, a Roman province, in the middle of the 1st century AD—an area which mostly encloses today's Austria. In 788 AD, the Frankish king Charlemagne conquered the area, and introduced Christianity. Under the native Habsburg dynasty, Austria became one of the great powers of Europe. In 1867, the Austrian Empire was reformed into the empire of Austria-Hungary.
The Austro-Hungarian Empire completely collapsed in 1918 at the end of World War I. After establishing the First Austrian Republic in 1919, and existing as a peaceful country for nearly two decades, Austria was de facto annexed into "Greater Germany" by Nazi Germany in the so-called "Anschluss" of 1938, and the separate government of Austria ceased to exist then. This situation lasted until the end of World War II in early May 1945, after which Austria was occupied and governed by the four Supreme Powers of the Allies: the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and the French Republic. In addition, the city of Vienna was further subdivided into four occupation zones for the Four Powers.
In 1955, the Austrian State Treaty re-established Austria as a sovereign country and also ended the Allied occupation, the four armies of which all left peacefully. In that same year, the Austrian Parliament created the permanent Declaration of Neutrality which declared that the Austria would become a neutral country and remain that way indefinitely into the far future. For a long time (1955 - 1990) Austria was the only country to be even partially occupied by the Soviet Army in the post-war era to re-establish a democracy, to hold free elections, and to avoid authoritarian Communist rule by the Soviet authorities in Moscow. (Other countries in that region, such as Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Hungary, had supposed governments of their own that were merely puppet regimes held in the iron grips of the Soviets.)
Today, Austria is a parliamentary representative democracy comprising nine federal states. The capital—and with a population exceeding 1.6 million, Austria's largest city—is Vienna. Austria is one of the richest countries in the world, with a nominal per capita GDP of $43,570. The country has developed a high standard of living, and in 2008 was ranked 14th in the world for its Human Development Index. Austria has been a member of the United Nations since 1955, joined the European Union in 1995, and is a founder of the OECD. Austria also signed the Schengen Agreement in 1995, and adopted the European currency, the euro, in 1999.
As a federal republic, Austria is divided into nine states. These states are then divided into districts and statutory cities ). Districts are subdivided into municipalities (Gemeinden). Statutory Cities have the competencies otherwise granted to both districts and municipalities. The states are not mere administrative divisions but have some legislative authority distinct from the federal government, e.g. in matters of culture, social care, youth and nature protection, hunting, building, and zoning ordinances. In recent years, it has been discussed whether today it is appropriate for a small country to maintain ten parliaments.
The States are: 1 Burgenland 2 Carinthia 3 Lower Austria 4 Upper Austria 5 Salzburg 6 Styria 7 Tyrol 8 Vorarlberg 9 Vienna

Condos versus Hotels

A partial or full kitchen allows you to stay in for some meals when it is not convenient for you to go out. Breakfast is a perfect example. In a hotel your only option is room service at exorbitant prices. With a spacious resort condo you can have breakfast in bed every day.
